Alphabet Workbook or Worksheets and more for English Language Learners

I updated the resource, I changed the clip art and the font of the workbook.
There aren´t many alphabet workbooks designed with the EFL learner in mind. In such a need for the school that I coordinate EFL Preschool, I created this multiuse resource.

ESL Alphabet printable worksheets

The selection of the correct resource will benefit your students. Use it as a workbook, print all the pages and then bind or just use it as worksheets whenever you need more material for a specific letter.

Printable Alphabet Workbook. The school turned the resource into a workbook. Students can learn the name and the sound of each letter. I listed three common words that begins with each letter. There are three pages per letter. Printable Alphabet Workbook.

Page 1 is to introduce the letter. Reinforce the Capital letter and small letter.
Teacher: Point to letter G.
Teacher: Color Letter G red.
Teacher: point to the girl.
Teacher: Color the girl.
Teacher: trace letter Gg blue and repeat the letter.

Page 2 is to color and trace the words with the letter. Then, students can cut all the items into flashcards to play games in class or to create minibooks and more as you will see below.    Teacher: Point to letter G. Color Letter G yellow. Continue dictating the color of the other items.

Page 3 is to wrap up the letter study and create a create something with the letter, that why I put the word CRAFT. For this letter, the students turned the letter G into a glue bottle.Students can also cut that part of the page and use on their notebook for anything you want to do more activities. Teacher: Find letter G. Color Letter G green. Continue dictating the color of the capital G and the small g.

Here is the complete workbook.Check the VIDEO:

Make books. There are so many ways to create books to take home to practice the alphabet. Here are some examples of all the book you can make. The idea is to expand into other activites the pictures and words from the workbook.

make a craft for each letter to reinforce letter names. Hang them up in your classroom. This file has been a best seller in my TPT store. Teacher have hung them up in their rooms, some have done them in class with the children. Many teachers have found them easy to assemble, but if there is a special request for any letter let me know.

I added awards, labels for the flashcards and for the books.

School unit flashcards for ESL students

I updated the school unit flashcards. I thought that adding more words and using nicer clipart would be a bonus for teachers. Many of you have bought it and now you will have both versions. If there are words that you would like me to add, let me know.

More than 250 flashcards for the classroom objects on this resource and just a few tips on how to use them in class. You can use my flashcards or the ones that come with your book series.Link:

Use the flashcards to present the school objects vocabulary.

Check the flashcards:

Watch the video using the flashcards.

Flashcards 1. If your students are a little more advanced review there is and there are. Divide the board in two and write the phrases. I used pencil and books.
Teacher: There is a pencil. There are books.
Students can find more flashcards to make more examples.
Flashcards 2. I always find labeling fun. You can do one the board as an example. Label the body parts, clothes and school objects.(Labeling)
Teacher: name the body parts.
Students: mouth! Eyes! Leg!
Teacher: name the clothes.
Students: dress! shoe!
Teacher: name the school objects.
Students: lunch bag! backpack!
Then, assign red for body parts. Ask students to name all the body parts and you circle them. Do the same for clothes and school objects.
Students can do the same using the flashcards. I placed the flashcard into a plastic sheet to go on paperless. Have the students use a blue whiteboard marker for labeling the body parts.
Then, use a black whiteboard marker for labeling the clothes and the school objects.

Flashcards 3. Select a letter of the alphabet and have the students say all the words that start with the letter. As they name the word place the flashcard on the board. Then, have the students do the same on their notebooks with another letter. I chose letter P for this example.
Flashcards 4. Order alphabetically. Write the letters from A to Z on the board and the students find the flashcards to place under each letter.

Flashcards 5. Classroom Monsters. Give a flashcard on a plastic sheet to each student and have them create a monster. I did this one with scissors. I added hair, eyes, nose, mouth, shoes. I guess students are more creative than me, but it will work to show the students the task before they start their own. Students can show their work to the class.
Student: This is my scissors monster. It has black hair. Its eyes are blue and big. It is happy. She is wearing shoes.
Flashcards 6. Sorting the flashcards into categories. I wrote these categories on the board. Students find the flashcards for each category.
Flashcards 7. Name the flashcard. Make a grid on the board using the flashcards. I did this simple one as an example for you.
Teacher: C3!
Students: pencil case!

Flashcards 8. Related words! I placed the pencil case flashcard in the middle of the board. Have the students name all the things that a person can find in a pencil case. As they name the words, place the flashcard or write the word. This is like doing a mind map.
Flashcards 9. Use puzzles when working with the little ones.

Numbers 1 to 100 for ESL Learners- part 2

This is the second part for numbers 1 to 100. It is all in one resource here:
or here:https://www.bilingualmarketplace.com/products/numbers-1-to-100-flashcards-and-more-for-esl?variant=14375483637809
Watch the video of the complete resource:

100s chart with Number, Colors and Letters flashcards. I saw a similar idea on an old book and thought I could make one that can be used in the classroom and a small version for students to play in small groups. Place on the board all the colors flashcards horizontally and the letters cards vertically and fill in with the numbers flashcards.
Teacher: F ! blue!
Students: 57!
Teacher: 88!
Students: I! green !

Make more examples for the class to guess. Then students in small groups can play with their printable version.

Use the Number chart sheet printable. Give students instructions for coloring some numbers.
Teacher: Number 91 is red.

I also have a the colored worksheet that you can use multiple times for speaking activities . Have the students read aloud the numbers in chorus as you say the row.
Teacher: Row F!
Students: 51,52,5,3,54,55,56,57,58,59,60!
Teacher: RED!
Students: 5,15,25,35,45,55,65,75,85,95!

Use the Ipad printable for writing.I placed the printable into a clear sheet and used white board markers for writing. All these materials can be used for all your themes.

I have this round puncher that I usually use to punch out colored cardboard pieces left from other projects. I made a matching game using them.

Give the students the blank squares and a numeral card. They have to write that number in words and keep it but hand in the number card.  Mix up the number cards and hand in the students a different number card. At your signal students have to stand up and walk around looking for a match of their number card and a word card that they wrote. When they have found a match they say MATCH! Go over and verify, take away both cards of the match and have them continue playing.

Tell the students that they are going on a fast counting investigation. Give each group a classroom item card and have them count how many of that item are there in the classroom.
Group 1. There are 25 backpacks.

I found the idea of a similar game at Mailbox.com, I thought that it is a fun speaking game and gave it a twist. I added children on motorcycles and a road, along with Go and stop sign, not missing the numbers cards 1 to 100. Get two lunch bags and glue the stop and go on each bag. Separate the class into small groups and hand each group a set of bags with the numbers cards in each bag and the game pieces. There are 5 children on their motorcycles. Each student picks a character. Student 1 picks a card from the Go bag and a card from the STOP bag. That students says the numbers from the go to the stop numbers. If the student 1 says all the numbers, he moves his character one line along the road and sets aside the number cards. If the student does not say the number correctly, then the character cannot move.
Place all the numbers in a bag. Grab a number card and say it. Have the students write 3 more consecutives numbers and read the sequence aloud.

The small number cards can be used to express number sense in the target language. I made a printable format to play with the numbers finding consecutive numbers, the numbers before and the numbers that go after a specific one.

I made this Monster eats box for my Alphabet blog post. I had it standing around the studio and used it with the Number cards.
Teacher: Find number 55. The monster is eating number 55!

Use the small number cards to review prepositions. I printed a big 100 number and placed a clip behind it so it can stand. I also placed small clips behind the small cards.
Teacher: Number 50 is on Number 100.
Teacher: Number 55 is behind Number 100.
Teacher: Number 57 is in front of Number 100.

There are many ways to have the students practice writing
Students can have their own set of scrabble letters and write the word for each Number flashcard.
I love this scrabble game. Students can play at their own pace. Students can make their own rules and have fun while writing number words.

Just three worksheets to join this theme. I have seen so many teachers using notebooks and I remembered me using them a lot. I would tear down a worksheet and make more activities on the notebooks. I gave my own worksheets a try.

And I got inspired remembering what I used to do years ago. Students can copy the numbers from the board or from the flashcards. Dictation is a good listening exercise.
