Professional english Educator

Find a variety of themed board games perfect for practicing vocabulary, sentence structures, speaking, and listening skills—all while playing!

Board games give students a chance to hear, use, and repeat key vocabulary and sentence structures in a natural, purposeful way. Whether they're counting spaces, asking questions, or making choices, students are communicating with a clear purpose.

Most of the games includes:

Color coded Question Cards with the color of the spot landed on, that students must answer a question correctly to take their turn and advance. The question cards provide purposeful language practice.

Color coded Tokens to reward points to students who answer questions correctly. These can be used to keep track of points.

Markers (player pieces) that students use to move along the board path. Just cut and fold and glue on the upper part of each one.

Parents can participate in their child's learning by playing the game and supporting language development. Send the PLAYGROUND BOARD GAME home.

Achieving goals within the FRUIT AND VEGETABLE board game, such as reaching the finish line or earning points, reinforces students' learning progress.

BIRTHDAY UNIT board game can be adapted to suit different learning levels or individual student needs, allowing for differentiation in instruction.

Teachers can observe students during games to assess vocabulary, PRESENT CONTINUOUS grammar, and communication skills.

Students interact with their peers during gameplay, promoting social interaction and collaboration during the FURNITURE BOARD GAME.

This board game for the Grammar: CAN, involves strategic thinking and problem-solving. Students need to plan their moves, make decisions, and adapt their strategies during the game, fostering critical thinking skills.

Board games create situations where students use CLOTHES UNIT language in context.

Players practice descriptive language skills as they describe the ZOO animals they encounter on the game board.

The objective of the game is to navigate through the various spaces on the game board, learning and practicing vocabulary related to different PARTS OF THE BODY.

“Hands-On Farm Vocabulary Activities Worksheets for ELLs”

This resource is included here:   https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Farm-Unit-for-Elementary-EFL-3790548

These worksheets give your students a meaningful way to practice grammar and vocabulary together, making your Farm Unit comprehensive, communicative, and fun!

To support language development in context, I’ve included two essential grammar worksheets in the Farm Unit resource: one focused on the verb “can” and another practicing the present continuous tense (e.g., "The cow is eating"). These worksheets help students connect grammar structures with real-life vocabulary

Students describe each image using the present continuous tense:
"The horse is jumping."

To support early literacy and vocabulary development, I’ve added a variety of vocabulary-focused worksheets to the Farm Unit resource. These include activities where students match, write, read, color, and draw farm animals.

Find a farm animal word search and sorting worksheets that build on the same set of animal words. Word searches help students scan for patterns, recognize letter combinations, and reinforce spelling. Sorting the farm animals by features (e.g., number of legs, baby/mommy pairs) promotes logical thinking.

Label-the-body-parts worksheets featuring farm animals. These worksheets combine science, vocabulary building. Students learn key animal body part words like tail, legs, ears, wings, beak, hooves, etc.

Visit my store today to find resources that are ready to use and perfect for supporting your elementary ELLs. Your feedback is always appreciated as I continue to develop materials that meet the needs of both teachers and students.

Seasons and verbs for ESL

In many books it is under the label of Seasonal Activities. This is the last blog post related to the Seasons Unit. I have posted Seasons and Months, Seasons and Weather, Seasons and Clothes, Seasons and Nature. Just continue scrolling the blog posts to check them out! Everything is under one product:
https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Seasons-Theme-Resources-for-Elementary-ESL-1744981

It is also available here:https://www.bilingualmarketplace.com/products/seasons-unit-for-elementary-esl?variant=37168505684132

There are many verbs related to each Season. First, here are the flashcards.

Sort the Flashcards into Seasons on the blackboard.
Teacher: What season is this?
Students: It is Winter.
Teacher: What is he doing?
Students: He is building a snowman.

Place each Season Flashcard on the blackboard. Have the students look into all the flashcards and find the Activities(Verbs) that can be done in each Season.
Teacher: What season is this?
Students: It is Fall.
Teacher: What do we do in the Fall?
Students: Play with the leaves, sit on the pumpkins, rake the leaves, and walk.

Do the same with the other Seasons.

You can use many Verb Tenses with the flashcards. Start with CAN. Use the flashcards to model questions and sentences on the board.

                                        Or model Present Continuous.

Or you can introduce the simple past tense questions.
Maybe you can review the future.

As in all the Seasons Units, there is a Sorting Worksheet.

And just two worksheets.
Students complete the worksheet. Then have them cut each picture and glue next to the sentences on their notebooks.

The other worksheet will be used as a BINGO template as well. Using either the colored flashcards placed on the board or the small cards used for the sorting, students write the activities that can be done and the ones that can’t be done in each Season, completing the worksheet in an allotted amount of time, maybe 5 minutes. Some students will have more verbs than others, but that is the idea. Then, announce the BINGO! Use the colored flashcards to call the Verbs. The students will cross out the verb word if they have it written down. The winner is the first one to cross out all the words.
