Find a variety of themed board games perfect for practicing vocabulary, sentence structures, speaking, and listening skills—all while playing!

Board games give students a chance to hear, use, and repeat key vocabulary and sentence structures in a natural, purposeful way. Whether they're counting spaces, asking questions, or making choices, students are communicating with a clear purpose.

Most of the games includes:

Color coded Question Cards with the color of the spot landed on, that students must answer a question correctly to take their turn and advance. The question cards provide purposeful language practice.

Color coded Tokens to reward points to students who answer questions correctly. These can be used to keep track of points.

Markers (player pieces) that students use to move along the board path. Just cut and fold and glue on the upper part of each one.

Parents can participate in their child's learning by playing the game and supporting language development. Send the PLAYGROUND BOARD GAME home.

Achieving goals within the FRUIT AND VEGETABLE board game, such as reaching the finish line or earning points, reinforces students' learning progress.

English teacher Assistant

This resource provides a clear and engaging visual aid to help young English language learners grasp spatial concepts. It also supports multiple learning styles—students can listen, observe, manipulate cutouts, and even act out prepositions, making learning more interactive and memorable. Additionally, it encourages sentence-building and oral language development, reinforcing both vocabulary and grammar in a fun and meaningful way.

Lay out the Prepositions flashcards and have students write sentences that describe the apple’s location.

Say a preposition sentence (e.g., "The apple is next to the tree"), and students find and point to the correct flashcard.

Practice the positional words by printing the small cards provided and place them on the pocket charts and ask the question: Where is the apple?

Students: It’s in front of the tree.

The worksheets allow students to apply what they’ve learned at their own pace, building confidence in using prepositions.

Use this worksheet as a Pictionary to reference at any time. Students can cut the cards and write a sentence for each one.

Print and assemble the die. Have the students color the card as they throw the die and see where it landed.

Give students the printable tree and apples and have them place the apple in the position that matches the die. Then, they can draw that apple on the worksheet and if possible, write sentences on their notebooks.

Have students match puzzle pieces with images of the apple’s location and corresponding preposition words to form correct sentences. Helps students make direct connections between images and words.

Students can cut and glue pieces onto a poster board to reinforce learning and decorate the classroom.

Students roll a die, move their piece on the board game, and describe the apple’s position based on the spot they land on. Helps students practice forming complete sentences in a natural setting.

puzzle fruit and vegetable game

Teachers can easily adjust the difficulty of the games to match students’ language proficiency. Students can simply draw what is described in the cards. More advanced students can create more sentences and say more fruit and vegetables to draw.

Students practice reading sentences using the grammar point: There is /There are and the comprehension by identifying the correct fruit or vegetable to draw using the B/W version or the colored one.

Most games are designed for minimal prep, allowing teachers to implement it quickly and with minimal setup. Writing out the names of fruits and vegetables helps students practice spelling, reinforcing correct letter sequences and word formation.

Students can work in small groups by following the path along the board. Players have opportunities to listen carefully to instructions, answer to questions to the cards out loud, enhancing oral language development. Students will win the coin points if they answer correctly. The student with the most points wins.
