 Present Continuous Flashcards

Learning to use the Present Continuous tense is a big step for elementary ESL/ELL students.  These Toy flashcards show characters performing actions.

The Flashcards (toy pictures + action) work well in warm-ups, Show a Toy flashcard. Ask: “What is the girl doing?”

Present Continuous Sentence Practice

Students create sentences using the flashcards.

Then, have students take turns making sentences for other flashcards: The boy is playing with a teddy bear. The teddy bear is brown. It is small.

Present Continuous Statements using familiar toys makes that grammar relatable . Small cards encourage independent learning. Use these for sentence building / question-answer practice.

 

Present Continuous Question Practice

Small cards can be used to practice question-answer interactions. Learners will ask what people are doing in pictures and have peers answer.

Use the cards as a prompt yes/no question-and-answer interactions between students.

Present Continuous Worksheets

Worksheets help students connect verbs with pictures.

These toys worksheets help students connect grammar structures with real-life vocabulary. Students identify actions using the present continuous tense.

Students match a picture card to a sentence. It Supports Grammar Acquisition as It reinforces sentence structure, especially the subject + verb + ing form used in Present Continuous tense. Perfect for pari work.

Robots Numbers 1–20 Activity

Students identify and read the numbers associated with each robot.

Each printable robot flashcard Number Cards features a robot with a set number of dots on its body. This helps children: Connect numerals with quantities visually and develop one-to-one correspondence skills.

Kinesthetic learners can jump or hop next to the flashcard with the number you say. Perfect movement-based game.

 Students will connect numerals with quantities visually by writing the number with a dry erase marker.

Auditory learners can practice counting out loud and matching number words. Then, place any numbers cutouts to match the dots on each robot for number recognition.

The small cards are sized for easy printing and handling — great for group and pair work.

Counting in sequence. Line Up the Numbers small cards. Learners will shuffle the cards and working in pairs line them up in the correct order (1 to 20). But, previously cut up the printable template.

Use the same cards face-down for a memory/concentration game , by printing these double.

Students can use the small cards on their notebooks as they write the numeral and the word. This is a practice for the adjectives of quantities.

Counting Robots Worksheet

Students count the robot elements and match them with the correct number. Counting activities help reinforce both math and language development in ESL classrooms.

Use the Numbers mats sorting and matching printable. There are 3 of them. Provide students with number cards from one mat (e.g., 15) and have them place them on the corresponding robot with the fifteen dots and the number words from the third mat (e.g., fifteen).

Teaching prepositions to your learners is crucial for constructing basic sentences. Students will learn to describe locations between the robot and a box.  This **Robots Toys Unit for Elementary English** brings vocabulary to life with visual materials, interactive games, speaking prompts, and ready-to-use activities designed for ESL/EFL learners. Robot Toys Prepositions Vocabulary Activity

Show a flashcard with a robot in different positions of location (in, on, under, behind, in front of, next to, between) and pronounce it clearly. Encourage them to make sentences using the illustrated scene after you model one: The robot is in front of the box.

This is a matching worksheet that provides a list of sentences with all the prepositions and a set of robot pictures. Students will have to draw a line from each sentence to the correct robot. They will practice Word recognition and spelling.

Play a robot memory game where students find the matching pairs.

Use the printable cutouts to prepare this fun activity to help improve listening and speaking. Plan your Interactive Demonstration by gluing the colored cutouts to a box or any other item and a robot to a craft stick. Students should do the same with their cutouts after coloring them.  Ask the students to describe the position of the objects using the prepositions: The robot is in the box.

Board games for Elementary English Language Learners

Use the board games as a review of the new vocabulary of the unit. It is a fun repetition of the words. The markers are also included with each board game. So, just grab the dice. Each space has a color. Players have to move along the path. When they land on a space, they have to say the name of that color and show an item in that color.

Create a motivated and positive classroom atmosphere, where students know that there will be an enjoyable learning game to wrap up the class. Players will describe the colors of the space they landed on besides the number: It’s an orange twelve.

Games help with memory skills that are crucial for English language retention. That’s another reason for printing and having the games ready to play. The objective of the game is to navigate through the various spaces on the game board, learning and practicing vocabulary related to different facial features.

Board games are a very informal way of assessing your student’s language proficiency in communicating. Are they using the language enough? Are they struggling to move along the board?

Students can do more than just identifying the word but saying a phrase or complete sentence in order to get the food card. The more food cards a player has, he/she is the winner.

Players move their game pieces around the Toyland game board, by completing challenges such as miming how to play with the toys they land on.
