Oh, Christmas Tree!

A speaking or listening activity using a Christmas tree to review colors. It can be a real small tree or just print and play.

Link to the FREE resource:
I made my tree out of fun foam. I crafted all the pieces with fun foam as well.
I also wrapped yarn around the tree. I added an opened clip to each light and ornament.
This is the listening activity, check it at Pinterest:
And this is how it goes as a speaking activity.

Christmas Coloring Worksheets as a listening, speaking or writing activity

It's Christmas and when we think of coloring pages we think of the little ones. I do have FREE worksheets  for the students. For the older students, it can be a writing practice as they color and write a short text for their page.

Here is the LINK to the FREE resource:

For our English Language Learners of all ages can benefit of a listening activity as they color the worksheets.
Teacher: Find the bear! Color it brown.
Find the Christmas tree! Color it green.

Or do a show and tell. Students come up to the front and describe their worksheet: This is a bear. It has a Christmas hat. It is red.

This is what I did! I wrote the word for each item on the coloring page using a wax crayon.

Then, using markers I started coloring the pictures and the word would show up. Here is my example.
So, it is just a Spelling activity for the Season. If you do yours, please show me!

Thanksgiving resource
Print the pages of the book.

Students can make individual books or group books. Students will color each page as they read the sentences.
There is a set of a turkey surrounded by several objects and pages describing each item. You an put them together.  I would make the students color the separate items first and then look them up in the turkey picture and color accordingly.
Another example:
The pages are meant to review vocabulary from the farm unit that might have previously taught.
the last set of turkey and vocabulary pages.
Put all the sets together and bind the pages of the book.
Prepare all the toilet paper roll puppets. You can also do craft sticks or flannel board cutouts for storytelling.
                                       You can also practice prepositions.
Teacher: Put the turkey in front of the barn.
Teacher: What color is the barn ?
Students: It's read and white.
More examples for practicing prepositions.
Students can say positional sentences to other students to find the items and place them in the correct postion.
Student: The turkey is in front of the barn.
You can place the puppets in any position and ask questions.
Teacher: Where is the turkey'
Students: It is between the basket and the chicken.

Day 20,21 and 22.  headband,half cards,number cards!!

For the headband, students color and cut all the Halloween pictures. Then, they cut the pictures and glue onto an already made strip of black construction paper. Staple to adjust to the child’s head.

This is a fun game that can be used so many ways. Cuta ll the cards in half following the lines in the middle. The easiest one is to hand a half to each students in a random order and at your signal have them stand up and look around to find the other half and stand together making a whole card. You can also ask questions:

Teacher: Who has the star? Then both students stand up and make a complete star and say the Word.

Have all the cards ready to hand one  in to each student. Have the arrange themselves in number order and say their number.

Then, have them make sentences such as: Number one is a witch.

the cards can be sorted into odd and even.

Day 23,24 and 25.  puzzles,emotion cards,paper chains!!

Cute printable puzles!

Review the emotions with these cards to sort onto plastic plates.

Making paper chains are so long forgotten. I used to make them at school, just have the students hop on to the tradition.

Day 26,27 and 28.  door decor, Reading book,banners !!

With the templates make a long door decor. It is easy because after coloring the Halloween ítems, students cut and paste them onto a lace.

A reading book! Just print and put together to read or use it as a pdf for electronic equipment.

Banners for the classroom or as a writing activity for the younger students.

Day 29,30 and 31. coloring book, memory game and WITCH !!

Halloween Resources for EFL Students

Day 15. Halloween and school resource !!

Halloween School Flashcards. I made them small enough for online teaching.

Review prepositions using the flashcards.

Teacher: Where is the skeleton?
Students: She is in front of the board.

Use the flashcards to review commands in class.

Or have students play with the gameboard.

Cutouts can be used for so many things. Sorting is always fun! Students can say a phrase as they sort out all the cutouts.

Day 16.  Halloween balloons !!

Some Halloween decoration is fun to make for the actual classroom or for the homes those on distance teaching. It is fun and gives the opportunity to review the parts of the face and some vocabulary such as color, cut, glue and more.

For the cat, I made a base using recycled black paper, I folded it several times in order to have the cat stand. I opened a small hole in the middle of the base to pass the balloon’s knot through. I made two kinds of balloons, one with the complete face cutout and another with just the facial features. I added the tail just by folding it and taped it.

Now the pumpkin, I added a picture on how I made the base. The facial features template are in gray to trace onto balck construction paper or just print the black one.

Then we have the hanging balloons, the ghost and the bat. I taped a piece of yarn to the base of the ballonn and hung it onto the ceiling for the students to play games.

Day 17. Coloring book !!

An old book that I had in the store and I am did all over again. Many teachers liked it and well, it is in the resource with new clipart.

Day 18 and 19. matching cards and clothespins templates !!

Several Halloween vocabulary ítems and the color words to play memory and more games.

I made colored plates. I bought paper plates and colored with finger Paint each one in a different color for sorting purpose.

There is a blank template for the studenst to write their own phrases and play matching games with their classmates.

On a fun note, make clothespin out of fun foam. Get the templates and start working.
