Future plans Printable Games: Going to with Weekend Plans

These printable ESL games help students practice the going to future tense. Through hands-on activities such as dominoes, board games, spinners, matching games, and sentence-building challenges, learners develop confidence using future plans vocabulary.

Future to be going to Board game

Roll the die and move your marker around the board. When you land on a space, look at the picture and make a sentence with going to. Use an affirmative sentence for red spaces, a negative sentence for green spaces, and a question for yellow spaces. The first player to reach the finish wins!

 

Sentence Builder Game

Students use the word cards to create their own future plans sentences with going to. They can make any sentence they want, or use ideas from the small cards or the board game to inspire their answers. This open-ended activity encourages creativity, speaking practice, and correct sentence formation while reviewing future plans vocabulary.

Future Plans Spinner Game

Students spin the printable spinner and look at the color where it lands. Then, they think about their own weekend plans and make a sentence using going to.

·         Red = Make an affirmative sentence.

·         Green = Make a negative sentence.

·         Yellow = Ask a question.

For example, students can talk about activities they are really going to do this weekend, such as playing soccer, visiting family, riding a bike, or watching a movie.

Future Plans Dominoes

Traditional Dominoes

Students match the picture dominoes and phrase dominoes to build a domino chain. Each time they place a domino, they make a sentence using going to about their own weekend plans, such as “I’m going to go hiking this weekend.” The first player to use all of their dominoes wins the game.

Domino Race

Spread dominoes face up.

Teacher says: "I am going to go shopping."

Students race to find the matching domino picture or written verbs and show it.
