Bring some spooky fun to your classroom with these Halloween Furniture Flashcards! This engaging resource helps young English language learners practice furniture vocabulary through colorful Halloween-themed illustrations.

practicing There is/There are sentences

Point to a room in the Halloween house flashcards and have students call out any furniture they can see. Then, place the matching flashcard next to the house with an arrow pointing to the item and encourage students to make a sentence such as: “There is a green fireplace.”

use of There is/There are and prepositions of place

Students use basic sentences to describe the location of different pieces of furniture in the Halloween house. They look at the room flashcards, identify the furniture, and make sentences such as “There is a purple table in the dining room.” or “There is a chandelier between the pictures.”

hands-on sorting activity

Draw color splotches at the top of the board and create columns with lines underneath each color. Students take turns placing the Halloween furniture flashcards in the correct column according to their color.

This helps students develop categorization skills.

practice prepositions of place

Hold up a flashcard and ask questions such as “Who is he?” and “Where is Frankenstein?” to encourage students to identify the character and describe the location.

practice prepositions of place

Use the Halloween furniture flashcards together with the included Halloween cutouts. The teacher gives instructions such as “Put the bat on the closet,” “Put the spider under the lamp,” or “Put the skeleton behind the cauldron,” and students come to the board to place the cutouts in the correct position.

Mystery Furniture

Place the Halloween furniture flashcards on a grid on the board. Give students clues about one of the furniture items without saying its name. For example: It is green.  It is in the living room.  You put books in it.

Students listen carefully, identify the correct furniture flashcard, and answer using the grid location and vocabulary:

“It is the bookshelf! A3.”
