These food small cards are a versatile resource that can be used in a variety of engaging speaking, listening, reading, and movement-based activities. Featuring familiar food vocabulary such as meat, chips, sandwich, salad, milk, sausage, orange juice, pancakes, and lemonade, the cards help students practice food-related language in a fun and meaningful way.

Because the cards are small and easy to handle, they are perfect for pair work, cooperative learning, classroom games, and literacy centers.

Build a Sentence

Students pick one food card and write a sentence.

As learners arrange the cards and create their own sentences, they practice sentence structure, spelling, and the correct use of grammar patterns such as There is, There are, some, and any.

Shopping List Writing

Students use the cards to create a shopping list.

Creating a shopping list with the food cards helps students practice meaningful, real-life writing while reinforcing food vocabulary and quantity expressions. As students select items and write them on their lists, they develop spelling, sentence-building skills, and an understanding of countable and uncountable nouns.

Then they write:

"I need some eggs and a loaf of bread."

Have students write extra questions: Do you need any eggs?

Sort How much and How many?

I want -------------please

Student A place the small cards on the table. Student B will say:       I want some cereal, please.

Student A: Here you are.

What do they have?

Students grab a random card and describes what the person has.

Find Someone Who – Food Matching Game

Get your students moving and speaking with this fun Find Someone Who activity!

Cut the food cards in half and distribute one random half to each student. Students walk around the classroom asking their classmates questions such as:

“Do you have any cheese?”
When students find the classmate who has the matching half of their food card, they stand together and shout:

“FOUND!”

If the card is not a match, students continue walking around and asking questions until they find their partner.
