Present Continuous Flashcards for Elementary English Language Learners

This resource is found here:   https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Present-Continuous-for-Elementary-ESL-4403402

Teach the Present Continuous tense to describe actions that are happening right now. This helps ELLs talk about their immediate actions. Achieving this tense will help students describe their daily routines and activities. Write the lesson plan for elementary english using the flashcards ideas.

Activity 1. Show a flashcard and have the students do the action and say the word. Do the same with as many flashcards as you can.

Students: dancing! Dancing! (as they do the action).

Point to each flashcard and ask questions.
Teacher: What is he doing?.
Student 1: He is making his bed.

This resource is part of the House Furniture for Elementary ESL, at my store:

https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/House-Furniture-unit-for-Elementary-ESL-3420723

Instead of a printable book, I propose creating a furniture catalog. It will help them learn vocabulary related to furniture, by cutting and pasting the items in the template. You can also use the other template which are blank for the students to draw the furniture or cut from magazine, in order to practice their descriptive skills, and improve their overall language proficiency. Include it in your english lesson plan.

There is a cover page for the students to decorate.

communicative language teaching activities

There are pages for the furniture in the Living Room, Bedroom, Dining room, Kitchen, Bathroom and a black frame for you to add any other location in a house. Students can also add a description to each item in the catalog.

You can have a display of all the catalogs that the learners have done either individually or in small groups and give an award to each one.

A video! Take a look.

Printable games make learning enjoyable. All the games include attractive images that capture students' attention. Tailor the games to different skill levels and learning styles to ensure that all students can participate. Printable games are a cost-effective resource that can be easily distributed and reused. Development of writing Skill.  This dice game involves writing sentences in affirmative or negative to what is present in the house, which help improve literacy skills. There is a number dice that refers to quantity of items in the house. The others are furniture to consider that you have or not in that quantity in your house.

Students can work on printable games independently or in small groups, allowing teachers to provide individualized support as needed. This is a simple spelling activity to use with the dice, the small cards or any other.

Board games are inherently interactive, encouraging active participation from all students. This helps maintain high levels of engagement. It comes with cards in each color of the board path and the point coin as well. Players will land on a color and say a sentence and get the coin of that color if they say it right: The table isn’t in the bathroom!

The warm-up part of the lesson plan is an activity that:

·        activates prior knowledge

·        related to the lesson topic

·        get the students ready and focused for the class.

It provides a scaffold that supports students as they progress to more complex tasks.

The warm-up can be a review of a previous lesson, vocabulary or grammar point taught before. It should be closely related to your objective. It builds students' confidence.

It gives students a preview of what they will be learning, helping to set clear expectations.

Choose an easy and dynamic activity that engages your students in active participation to start the lesson taking into consideration the different proficiency levels in your class.

Write the name of that warm-up activity that you selected and list the materials needed. Clearly explain how to do that activity. Keep a list or file of warm-up activities that work well with your class.

Use the lesson plan warm-up bank template.

This part of the lesson is short, it should be between 5 to 10 minutes.

Use the warm-up activities as an informal assessment. It gives you an insight into students' understanding and readiness for the lesson.
