Circus Popcorn Numbers 1 to 20

This resource can fit easily into a circus-themed or number learning unit. It can be used with whole class, small groups, or individual centers, and it’s adaptable for various levels.

Do you follow the 3Ps in your lessons? Theresource will follow the3Ps of teaching—Presentation, Practice, and Production— to form a clear structure for building strong language skills in ELLs.

The popcorn and circus themes flashcards (Presentation) are colorful and perfect for visual learners.

Place the flashcards around the room. Have the students put the flashcards in order forwards and backwards on the board.

Play Flashcards bingo. Place all the cards on the board.

Have the students select five numbers to write on one of their bingo grids. Then, start calling the numbers and the first students to cross out all five numbers wins.

Place the small cards around the room. Have your feed me monster box ready. Students walk around grabbing just one small card at a time and feed the monster saying: It’s number thirteen!

Tally how many cards the students got to feed the monster.

As simple as cutting off the word each card and play match.

This hands-on worksheet (practice) includes: One grid with numerals from 10 to 20. A second grid with matching number words and popcorn quantities in mixed order.

Students will cut out the pieces from the second grid. Match and glue each number word + popcorn picture next to the correct numeral. Complete the puzzle.

This worksheet invites students to write a number word (e.g., “fourteen) under the matching numeral (e.g., 14)

Identifying and distinguishing numerals in the worksheet and trace a line.

This worksheet requires students to think logically and fill in missing number words in a sequence.

Students will listen to a simple set of simple instructions and color accordingly.

Classic Matching Mat Game (Production). Students match the popcorn images (showing quantities) to the circus number cards (numerals 1–20). It is a way to reinforce number recognition and one-to-one correspondence.

Count the Popcorn Board Game!

Students roll a die and move that many spaces. They land on a circus number. They must say the number. Then, find a matching mat card to match.

Worksheets provide structured practice with vocabulary, reading, and writing skills. They help reinforce the new vocabulary, allowing students to work at their own pace, and offer opportunities for independent or guided learning. Worksheet 1. Read a sentence with a description to match to a picture. As optional, have students write questions for each sentence on their notebooks.

Worksheet 2.  It offers a prompt for students to complete changing from negative to an affirmative sentence, helping them use correct word order and grammar.

Worksheets set 3. These include drawing, cut-and-glue, questionnaire, that keep young learners engaged with tactile learning.

Worksheet 4. Repetitive exposure through matching builds recognition and helps ELLs internalize spelling of new words.

Worksheet 5. Practice sentence structure, using context clues, related to community helpers.

Worksheet 6. Students will connect actions to professions by forming complete sentences. It supports present continuous tense.

Worksheet 7. It helps students practice first-person sentence structure using the verb “to be.”

Worksheet 8.  It helps students answering yes/no questions using the correct structure with the verb “to be.”

Worksheet 9.  Ask students to answer “Who are they?” encouraging learners to identify people by their roles and respond with complete sentences like “They are singers.”

Worksheet 10. students write the job under each picture to strengthen vocabulary recall.

Worksheet 11. Ask students to complete sentences using can as an expression of ability to describe what people are able to do.

Worksheet 12. Write labels for the clothes the firefighter is wearing. Let me know if I should add more of these with other workers.

Snake Numbers 1–20 Activities – Flashcards, Worksheets, Games & Matching Mats | ELL

The resource works across multiple skill levels—students can match, speak, write, or act depending on their ability to learn the numbers 1 to 20. Use it for Communicative Language Teaching.

The resource follows a model lesson plan for English that follows the 3Ps structure. 

The Numbers 1 to 20 flashcards feature a snake eating the number.

Invite a student to the front to describe the image on the flashcard with sentences like:

“The snake is eating number fifteen.”

These flashcards allow teachers to build Number recognition.  Play Go to the Snake!" Movement Game. Place the flashcards around the classroom—on the walls, chairs, or desks. Say a full sentence out loud, such as:
“The snake is eating number twelve.”

Students listen carefully, look around, and walk to the correct flashcard. They have to say the sentence: “Yes! The snake is eating number twelve!”

Write the sentence activity.  Give students a snake flashcard and have them write: “The snake is eating number seventeen”

Cut the words out of each small card and play match.

Animal Worksheet set 1. Students read the sentence, find the correct snake, and color it accordingly. It is a way to reinforce numbers 1 to 20.

 In this worksheet, students look at each numeral and write the corresponding number word or name. Use it as a way to strengthen numeral to word connection.

 

This worksheet invites students to draw lines to connect each numeral to its matching number word. For example, they match 12 to twelve, and 7 to seven.  It reinforces sight reading of number words.

Students complete a sequence of number words by writing the missing ones. It supports pattern recognition and sequencing skills.

This Bingo worksheet features four small Bingo grids, perfect for playing in pairs or small groups. Each student writes five random numbers (1–20) in each grid. The teacher or a student calls out number words, and players mark their spaces as they listen.

In this interactive worksheet, students listen to the teacher read short sentences:

“The black snake is eating number twelve.”
Then they find the correct snake and color it according to the description.

The matching mats are great for independent work, centers, or partner games.

Write It In. Place the mat into a clear plastic sheet and with dry-erase markers, students write the number word on each snake.

Make a number sequence with any cards from the mats.

This game board features a colorful path of snakes, each showing a number from 1 to 20. Students roll a die and move along the path, landing on different snake numbers as they go. As a twist, students Write the Word on the bingo worksheet described above, where they write the number word they landed on after each turn.
