Writing the practice part of the lesson plan to teach English Language Learners

After the a well done presentation of the new material, this is the next step: PRACTICE!

This is the moment to reinforce and apply the material presented. Use repetition of those concepts to help the students solidify the understanding.

Students will work on the new language using the workbook or worksheets providing different contexts  and multiple activities to engage and complete tasks.

Plan practice of the new concepts and language in which the students will use the skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing on their own along with vocabulary and grammar.

Using the worksheets will allow the assessment of your students' understanding and progress. It also provides an opportunity to give immediate feedback, helping students correct errors and improve.

Include differentiated instruction to tailor to needs of your students in the sleection of the worksheets to hand in. Don’t skim on oportunities for the learners to practice.

The materials you can use for the practice part of a lesson plan to consolidate learning:

1. Visual Aids, such as the flashcards, small cards,Charts and Posters that you can make to display the new vocabulary, sentence structures, or grammar rules in your classroom for drilling purpose.

2. Workbook and/or Worksheets that includes: Matching Exercises,Fill-in-the-Blanks,Sentence Strips, substitution drills and more.
