Playing games gives students plenty of opportunities to speak, listen, and understand food-related vocabulary in context, which reinforces language skills.

Foster collaborative learning as students work effectively in groups to put together this puzzle. Use the game to help with reading fluency and word recall. Solving puzzles requires focus and persistence.

Teachers can easily adjust the difficulty of the games to match students’ language proficiency. Students can simply draw what is described in the cards. More advanced students can create more sentences and say more fruit and vegetables to draw.

Students practice reading sentences using the grammar point: There is /There are and the comprehension by identifying the correct fruit or vegetable to draw using the B/W version or the colored one.

Most games are designed for minimal prep, allowing teachers to implement it quickly and with minimal setup. Writing out the names of fruits and vegetables helps students practice spelling, reinforcing correct letter sequences and word formation.

Students can work in small groups by following the path along the board. Players have opportunities to listen carefully to instructions, answer to questions to the cards out loud, enhancing oral language development. Students will win the coin points if they answer correctly. The student with the most points wins.
