I know that many teachers are in dual language settings and I am a Spanish Native Language Speaker. I made a set of Seasons Flashcards in Spanish.
Review the Months of the Year using the cards.

Have the students sort with you on the board the months for each Season.

Teacher: Which months are there in the Winter ?
Student: December, January, February.
Teacher: When is Spring ?

A worksheet! Well, actually three. Hand in the first two worksheets to the students. Dictate how to color each letter of the Seasons Words.

Teacher: Color letter “e ”green. Which seasons has an “e ”?
Students: Summer! Winter!
Continue with all the other letters, it is an alphabet review and students will notice the spelling of the words.
Dictate how to color all the months of the year to practice listening.
Teacher: Color December pink.

When students finish coloring, they cut and paste the months in each Season box.

Students go their notebooks and pair each Season box to a picture.

And to finish the sorting, a worksheet to answer.

Worksheet 3. I couldn’t help it when I saw these Party Animals clip art and created this worksheet that can be done in several steps or in different ways.
First, have the students color the animals as you dictate them to practice listening. It also helps to keep the pace as students have to color on the time that you give them such as a minute for each animal.  Teacher: Color the giraffe orange!
birthday animals worksheets

There is the cake that students color as in the paragraph that you hand in. It can be done as a diorama. Students read the paragraph and place the animals where it corresponds. I placed an opened clip behind each item. Students can take turns reading each sentence and another student has to place the animal.

When is your birthday? How old are you-part 3

Here is the link to How to Teach ‘When Is Your Birthday?’ and ‘How Old Are You?’ — ESL Activities for Elementary Learners. Click here:

Watch the video of the product:

Learning to ask and answer questions like “When is your birthday?” and “How old are you?” gives young ESL/EFL students a practical, personal way to use English — it’s meaningful, communicative, and instantly relevant.

Vocabulary to Teach First

Before asking questions, make sure students know: Month names, Dates (1–31).  Review the months of the year using the cards. Review with your students: How many days in each month ?

months of the year using the cards

 Flashcard Q&A

Show flashcards with months/dates and model. I see that some book’s scope and sequence have the structure using only the birthday month. Have a student come to the front and pick the card of the month of their birthday.

Teacher: When’s your birthday?
Student: June.
Teacher: It’s in June. (Stress the word IN and write it on the board. Grab the month card of June and place it next to the word in)
when is your birthday?

Graph the birthday months of your class
Place the months of the year around your classroom. Have the students look for the Month of their Birthday and stand there.
Teacher: This is January. How many students have their birthday in January?
Students: one!
Continue with all the months.

when´s your birthday?

Depending on the level of your students and the scope and sequence of your book, continue introducing the birthday date. But first, review all the ordinal numbers using the cards.

Worksheets & Written Practice

I prepared a worksheet for the students to notice the difference in writing the ordinal numbers.

Have the students match the ordinal number cards and the words cards as a review.

Then, let’s move on to the birthday date. Place the month and date of your birthday on the board and model for the class. Write the word ON.
Teacher: My birthday is on August 29th.
Have the students find their birthday month cards and say their sentence to the class.

When is his or her birthday?

Have the students write their birthdate on a piece of paper.

As you place the month cards around the classroom. At your signal have the students stand up and look for their birth month and stand there.  Hand them their birthday ordinal number.

when's your birthday flashcards

Calendar. I am adding a perpetual calendar template . I  can customize the headings to adjust to the country you are at, send me an email: ei98srl@gmail.com)
Students can help create the calendar, just glue the proper heading and have the students research the days and complete the template.

Ask questions:
Teacher: When is Sara’s birthday?
Students: It on October 20th.
Students write their name in the birthday date box.

More flashcards. I thought that extra practice is required for this structure. I made some children flashcards with birthdates.
Teacher: When is his birthday?
Students: It’s on June 28th.
when is your birthday flashcards

Here is the complete set.
