Christmas Faces Language & Literacy Pack

This resource is also included here, ready to download:  https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Holistic-English-Resources-By-Rosa-Amelia

With this resource students will learn Christmas-themed vocabulary (hat, scarf, nose, eyes, mouth, beard, etc.) while reviewing facial features.

Labeling the Parts of the Face

In this activity, students look at the Christmas character on the board and label each part of the face. They follow the arrows to identify hair, ears, eyes, nose, and mouth. This simple visual task helps elementary ESL learners connect vocabulary with meaning while practicing reading and spelling in a fun Christmas setting.

Asking Questions With Flashcards.

In this activity, the teacher uses the Christmas face flashcards to ask simple questions and encourage speaking. Students answer questions such as “What color is the elf’s hair?” and “Is it short or long?” This helps them practice vocabulary, descriptions, and complete sentences in a fun and engaging way.

Label the flashcard.

Students place the Christmas face flashcard inside a clear plastic sheet and use a dry erase marker to label hair, eyes, nose, and mouth. This hands-on activity lets them write, erase, and repeat as many times as they want—perfect for centers, pair work, or fast finishers!

Sentence Building Strips

Students build sentences using the cards: The Elf has blonde hair!

They can write the sentence strips or you provide them.

Christmas Face Graphing

Students choose their favorite Christmas character and place the card under a graph label. Then create sentences: “Four students like the Elf girl.”

Listen & Touch (TPR Game) give each student a small card with a Christmas character. The teacher says: “Touch the hair.” Students touch the part of the face on the card.

Label, Complete & Describe!

Students label the parts of the face on the snowman (or reindeer), then draw the missing features to make their own Christmas character. After finishing their picture, they write a short descriptive text using sentences such as “He has a big orange nose” or “She has long brown hair.”
Perfect for writing practice, vocabulary review, and creative expression!

Color & Complete the Sentences

Students color each Christmas character and complete the sentence using the correct word from the picture (hair color, nose color, etc.). This activity helps learners practice “I have…” vocabulary, colors, and face features while reading simple sentences.

Listen and Color – Christmas Faces Worksheet

Students listen to the teacher’s instructions and color each Christmas character according to what they hear. Then, on the other worksheet, students answer simple questions using the picture clues. Perfect for speaking, listening, and reading comprehension.

Read and Color – Christmas Face Features

Students read each sentence carefully and color the Christmas characters to match the description. This worksheet reinforces reading comprehension, color words, and face vocabulary while encouraging students to pay attention to detail.

Christmas Faces Board Game 🎲

Kids roll the dice, move along a colorful path of Christmas characters, draw a gumdrop question token, and answer prompts like “Point to the nose” or “What color are the eyes?”

When they answer correctly, they get to “feed” the token to the cheerful owl box! Perfect for speech therapy, early language learning, or holiday centers.

Christmas Faces Guess Who? Game 🎄
Make holiday learning fun with this festive two-player game! Students choose a character and use yes/no questions to guess their partner's mystery card. With bright illustrations and simple descriptions, it's a perfect way to build vocabulary, practice questioning, and celebrate the season. Great for centers, pairs, or speech sessions!
